Is the United States a melting pot or a salad bowl? Through reading, writing, and discussion, students will explore topics like stages of culture shock, romantic relationships crossing cultures, stereotypes, ethnocentrism, and prejudice.

Topic: Writing from Personal Experience
Instructor:  Carol Shaulis
Freshman English 101 (Section  2468)

Students will explore the writing process through self-discovery.  The modes will be characterization (incorporating both descriptive and narrative details), process, classification (multiple comparison), and cause-and-effect, culminating in a personal definition research assignment.
