Professional Description
Successful Completion of the Food Service Management option will qualify
a person to be employed in restaurants, school food service, healthcare
dietetics departments, catering businesses, and other businesses that
prepare and serve food.
The program of study is an integrated blend of business courses, practical
hospitality courses, and internship experiences. In the required off-campus
internships, students receive valuable on-site training and work experience.
Many students choose to complete requirements for all options, enhancing
their employability in all facets of the hospitality industry.
Career Opportunities
There continues to be a shortage of qualified managers and skilled employees
in the hospitality industry. Labor statistics project about a 30% job
growth through 2005 in food service and lodging, and 70% job growth
through 2005 in travel/tourism.
