Applicants With Prior College Experience 

Can apply to the MLT program as a clinical phase student or as a pre-clinical phase student.

The clinical phase is for students who wish to complete the full-time sequence of courses. 

Students may choose to complete the program as a part-time student.  A part-time student can select "Pre-MLT" curriculum on the College Application.


How to apply for direct admission (clinical phase) to the MLT Program when applying with previous college credit

STEP # 1

Determine Eligibility

13 hours of college coursework to include:
Math (Algebraic Functions)....3 credits
English............................................3 credits
Science...........................................4 credits
Elective...........................................3 credits

 

An overall college GPA of 2.0 or greater.

Step # 2

Fill out the Allegany College of Maryland application and select the appropriate program number to be considered for admission into your program of study.

Biotechnology A.A.S. Degree Option:  11201
Pre-Medical Laboratory Technology-Biotechnology Option:  11203
Medical Laboratory Technology:  03701
Pre-medical laboratory technology:  03703
Biotechnology Certificate Option:   11301
Fast-Track Option: 03706

Step # 3

Submit high school and all college transcripts.

Everyone is accepted into the "pre-clinic" category as soon as the college application is complete and until admissions into the fall semester is completed (usually in April).

Students may be accepted into the "pre-clinic" category:

until acceptance for the fall MLT class is completed (usually in April), all students are accepted as "pre-clinical" phase MLT students
if the applicant doesn't meet the entrance requirements
if the student chooses to complete general education courses
prior to beginning the "clinical phase"
