
Admissions Criteria
- Medical Laboratory Technology/Biotechnology
Admission
into the A.A.S. MLT or Biotechnology Degree programs are selective and
can be on a competitive basis.
Students can be admitted
as:
1) Traditional high school graduates (diploma
or GED)
2) Students with previous college
credits earned ACM or other accredited institutions
3) Fast-Track option students that have
completed a Bachelor of Science Degree or all of the general education
requirements for the MLT curriculum.
Once students are admitted based on academic merit,
the student will read and sign the essential
functions statement to assess the cognitive, physical and behavioral
abilities necessary to participate and graduate from the program.

* The SAT test can be equated to the ACT test.
** Must have a overall GPA of 2.0.
*** The GPA for these 13 hours is weighted 70% and the total number of
credits is weighted 30%. The students are ranked from the highest
to lowest scores and accepted based on their rank. This criteria
is used when the number of applicants exceed the available slots for college
students.
BIOTECHNOLOGY OPTION
The A.A.S. Biotechnology Option of the MLT program admits students
using the same criteria as the traditional MLT program.
BIOTECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE OPTION ADMISSION
The Biotechnology Certificate requires a B.S. Degree in science or
a A.A./A.A.S. Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
FAST-TRACK
The
Fast Track Option of the Medical Laboratory Technology program offers
a student the ability to complete the existing MLT A.A.S. Degree in 12
calendar months. The program is designed for students who have obtained
previous Biological Science or related degrees. Students are eligible
for the Fast-Track option when all general education requirements for
the MLT degree have been successfully completed. The list of general
