PROFESSIONAL DESCRIPTION

Therapeutic Massage is a branch of complementary health care that works to improve a person's health and well-being through the hands-on manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues of the body. Through the integration of the traditional healing art approaches and current scientific knowledge, techniques are produced that blend the best of both worlds.

The growth of the Therapeutic Massage profession has been exceptional in this country as well as around the world. As all facets of complementary health care are gaining greater acceptance, the public is actively seeking options in wellness and preventative care. Therapeutic Massage is an exciting and rewarding field that offers the opportunity to work with individuals in a variety of professional settings to maximize their quality of life.

Successful completion of the program qualifies students to apply for an Associate of Applied Sciences in Therapeutic Massage. Graduates are eligible for apply to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and for certification in the State of Maryland and West Virginia.
