Definition:
Pharmacy technicians are practitioners who work under the supervision
of a pharmacist in a retail pharmacy, institutional, or hospital pharmacy
setting. The pharmacy technician works dispensing medications, performing
pharmaceutical calculations, and using aseptic technique.
Description:
Pharmacy Technician Training consists of classroom and laboratory competency-based
courses of study designed to prepare the students for employment in
a retail pharmacy or hospital setting. The curriculum is based on standards
from the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP), but this is
not an ASHP accredited program. State registration is required.
