Faculty Biographies
John Jastrzembski, Associate Professor
of Forestry, has been at Allegany College of Maryland since 1994. He has
received the Outstanding Faculty Achievement Award twice (2001-02, and
2002-03) and has been nominated for the Saner Excellence in Teaching Award(2003-04).
Mr. Jastrzembski is also a recipient of the Medal of Honor from the Archdiocese
of Baltimore (2004). He is responsible for instruction in nine forestry
courses.
Prior to Allegany College of Maryland, he was a Regional Forester for
the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. In this position, he served
as the supervising forester for 7 counties and oversaw the state's function
in private land forest management activities and land use planning. Mr.
Jastrzembski has also worked as an Urban Forester for the New York City
Parks Department, a Rangeland and Watershed Conservationist for the USDA
Forest Service, and a Forest Health Research Biometrician in New Hampshire.
He served as the Chair of the Maryland-Delaware Division of the Society
of American Foresters, Governor Shaefer's Conference for Trees and Forests,
and Governor Shaefer's Beautification of Annapolis Committee.
Mr. Jastrzembski holds an Associates of Science Degree in Resources Management
from Nassau Community College, a Bachelors of Science in Resources Management
from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science
and Forestry,and a Master of Science in Forest Resources Management from
the University New Hampshire.
Steve Resh, Professor, has been
at Allegany College of Maryland since 1986. He is responsible for instruction
in eight forestry courses and is the coordinator of Forestry Programs.
Prior to coming to Allegany College of Maryland, Mr. Resh was a faculty
member at Unity College and the University of Kentucky teaching in the
forest technology programs. His professional experience includes working
on a field crew member in the Forest Inventory and Analysis group for
the United States Department of Agriculture-Forest Service. Mr. Resh has
a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from The Pennsylvania State University
and a Master of Science in Forestry From the University of Maine. He served
as chair of the Council of Easter Forest Technology Schools, treasurer
of the Maryland-Delaware Division of the Society of American Foresters,
and as vice-president of the Appalachian Professional Foresters Association.
He is currently the Chair of the Maryland-Delaware Division of the Society
of American Foresters and serves on the Board of Governors of the Maryland
Forest Association. |
