More information about these certifications can be obtained by visiting the IAAP website. Additionally, students who successfully complete this program would have the skills necessary to attempt the Microsoft Office Specialist exam in Word, Excel, and/or Access. These exams are used to assess how well individuals know the Microsoft Office software packages. This certification is a globally recognized standard for demonstrating desktop skills. While certification does guarantee employment, employers may be willing to pay up to 10% more for certified professionals (www.officeteam.com/PressRoom).
Opportunities exist at all levels for a graduate with Office Systems Support (one-year option) or Business Office Support Specialist (one-semester option) certificates. Courses completed in these certificates are required in the two-year Administrative Assistant Option.
