Arrange
an appointment with your advisor. The name of your academic
advisor is listed on your acceptance letter. If you do not know
who your academic advisor is please ask at the Admission/Registration
Office or ask a staff member in Student Services.
Advising
is a process which assists students in clarifying their choices
and goals and in developing an educational plan. It is a continuing
process in which advisors help students make decisions.
As
a first time student your academic advisor may ask you a variety
of questions. Your answers will aid the advisor in assisting
you set up a short and long term academic plan.

to take?
- What are your best personal qualities?
- What type of extra-curricular activities
did you take part in during high school?
- What do you see as your limitations?
- In what kind of work environment do you picture yourself
in a few years?
- What academic areas are you currently considering?
- What occupations are you considering?
- How do your abilities and skills fit the tasks necessary
to succeed in these areas?
- Do you ever have trouble making decisions?
- How do you generally go about making a decision?
- What specific strategies do you use?
- Do you make decisions by yourself or do you need other people's
opinions first?
- Are you feeling anxious about deciding about a major? Pressured?
- Do you want day or an evening schedule?
