INDUSTRIAL
/ BUILDING TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
This one-year
career program prepares students to join the workforce at entry
level or above in general construction and building maintenance
or in the industrial workplace, depending on which program option
is chosen.
This program
is designed to use technology in all aspects of instruction. The
use of state-of-the-art technology for instruction and production
as part of the program will expose and immerse the students in
the given technologies. Students in both options will be exposed
to current versions of AutoCAD, CAD/CAM applications and CNC technology.
Language, programming and use will be emphasized. In addition,
PC applications will be reinforced in each course consistent with
the local industry standards. The program is intended to prepare
the students for a variety of career opportunities. It will provide
broad technical training and experiences leading to positions
in their chosen fields of study. Students who select the "Building
Option" will gain proficiencies in aspects of estimating work
and the completion of jobs form masonry and framing to interior
and exterior finishing. Students in the "Industrial Option" will
learn about materials, blueprint reading, cutting and fitting
and welding. All students will develop communications and technical
skills necessary to be productive members of a construction or
manufacturing technical team. A work-based internship that completes
each study option will provide direct application of academic
skills attained.
