The mission for Allegany College of Maryland campuses in Pennsylvania is to provide geographical, academic, and financial access to higher education for the citizens of Bedford and Somerset Counties, as well as areas in the Southern Alleghenies region.

The boards of county commissioners, the college foundation boards, the college advisory boards, and the communities believe the future of these counties is in many ways directly dependent upon the education and training of its citizens in developing a workforce to retain and recruit business and industry.
