Bedford County saw a need for changes in order to address high unemployment and low percentages of residents pursing training beyond high school or technical school. |

A community group was formed which invited several Pennsylvania institutions to form branch campuses in the county. All refused. |
1990 |
Bedford County (PA) and Allegany Community College (MD) entered into an agreement and began offering evening classes in a local high school. |
1992 |
The Bedford County Campus of Allegany Community College was recognized and became eligible for PHEAA grants. |
1994 |
Bedford County local government (commissioners) funded a new $1.5 million facility on land donated by the Everett School District and Allegany Community College began offering daytime classes. |

Bedford County Foundation raised $150,000 to furnish the facility. |
1995 | The
campus utilized local library facilities and local high schools
provided labs for science instruction. |

| The College was awarded an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant through the PA Dept. of Commerce for the establishment of a distance learning system. |
1996 | Early College programs began in local high schools. |
1997 | Allegany Community College changed its name to Allegany College of Maryland with emphasis in partnering with four-year institutions to offer extended degree programs. |
1999 | The Southern Tier Education Council was formed. This is a joint council with representatives from Bedford and Somerset County Foundations, Advisory Boards and local government. |

2000 | The Bedford County Campus currently includes distance-learning facility, computer lab, classrooms, bookstore, admission/registration offices, and student services office. |

| | The Bedford County Campus has planned an addition that will include a digital library, additional classrooms, and another computer lab. |

| | The campus has state of the art technology and its systems are continually upgraded. |
2001 | The Campus celebrated a 10-year anniversary. |

| | The Foundation continues to provide tuition assistance scholarships to traditional and non-traditional students. |

| | Personnel have been added with responsibilities for curriculum development, staff development, and workforce/job training in the PA Campuses. |

| | Allegany College of Maryland installed a microwave communication system to connect all the campuses at a cost of $650,000. |

The Bedford County Regional Education Foundation has raise $570,000 towards the Scholarship Endowment Campaign. These dollars provide tuition free courses for all Bedford County Early College students and provide tuition assistance scholarships to credit students. |
2005 |

Geneva College is offering a BS Degree in Human Resources at both PA Campuses and a Masters Degree Program in Organizational Leadership at the Bedford County Campus. |

Penn State is offering a BS Degree in Nursing. |
