How much time must I spend for a course
in addition to time spent in the classroom (homework, class preparation,
etc)?
In general, for every hour spent in the classroom, students should
spend a minimum of two hours in outside work. Therefore, students enrolled
in 12 hours will be spending at least 24 hours in study outside the
classroom for their courses. However, it is important to realize that
courses vary in both the degree of difficulty and the policies of the
instructor.
What time sequences do classes follow?
Most classes follow either Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (MWF) sequence
or a Tuesday and Thursday (T,R) sequence. Therefore, a three-credit
course in the MWF sequence would meet 50 minutes on each of the three
days (at the same time each day), whereas a three-credit course would
meet for 75 minutes on a Tuesday and Thursday sequence (at the same
time each of these days.) A three-credit course scheduled to meet once
a week will meet for 150 minutes.
