ACM vs Lord Fairfax CC

The Trojans closed out their 2008 season with a 2-0 victory over visiting Lord Fairfax CC of Middletown, VA.  After playing a scoreless half \, ACM put two goals on the board to secure their 4th win of the season.  Mike Edwards came out of the goal to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead at the 29:50 mark of the second half.  Divin Domingos, on an assist from Lucas Knotts, iced the game at the 31:46 mark.  The Trojans had the match in hand, out-shooting LFCC 14-2 and leading 9-1 in corner kicks.  The ACM keepers recorded 4 saves for the match.

ACM vs Montgomery - Rockville

The Trojans lost their 8th game of the season with a 6-0 loss to the fast, talented Montgomery-Rockville Knights on Tuesday afternoon.  ACM held the Knights to two goals in the first half but yielded four in the second half.  Every Trojan attack was repelled by the M-R defense as the Trojans only got off 1 shot for the game.  It was 5-1 from the corners in favor of the Knights.  Despite giving up 6 goals, goalkeeper Mike Edwards played a stellar game, while under constant pressure.

ACM vs Harford CC

ACM   1  HCC 2

The Trojans fell to 3-7-1 with a 2-1 loss to the host Harford CC Owls on Saturday afternoon.  In a closely contested match the Trojans fell behind 2-0 at halftime, but battled back to control much of the second half.  Marcus Kendall, on a Lucas Knotts assist, scored with 12:49 left on the clock to close to 2-1.  ACM had several opportunities to put the match into overtime but could not connect.  Harford led 14-8 in shots and were up 5-2 from the corners.  Mike Edwards again had a great day in the goal, recording 8 saves.

ACM vs Frederick CC

The Trojans improved to 3-6-1 with a 1-0 victory over the visiting Frederick CC Cougars on Tuesday afternoon.  In a closely contested battle the Trojans came out on top off an Isaac Domingos goal late in the second half.  Nick Logue provided the assist on
Domingos goal.  ACM put pressure on the Cougar defense for much of the game, forcing the FCC keeper to make tough saves.  The Trojan defense did a great job limiting Frederick’s chances.  The Trojans held a 14-7 shot advantage and a 9-2 edge for the corners.  Keeper Mike Edwards recorded 5 saves for the match.

ACM vs Prince George’s CC

ACM   0  PGCC 4

The Trojans dropped to 2-6-1 with a 4-0 loss to the PGCC Owls on Saturday afternoon in Largo.  ACM gave up a goal at the 11 minute mark and gave up the second late in the half to fall 2 goals back at halftime.  A penalty kick early in the second half and another late goal gave PG the 4-0 win.  The Trojans managed only 5 shots to the Owls’ 16.  PG led 6-0 from the corners.  Goalkeeper Mike Edwards mad some brilliant saves among his 9 total saves.

ACM vs CCBC - Essex

ACM   0  Essex 7

The Trojans fell to 2-5-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the Maryland JUCO with a 7-0 loss to nationally-ranked Division I CCBC-Essex on the Trojans field.  ACM held the Knights to a 2-0 lead at halftime but gave up 5 second half goals.  The Trojans played hard throughout the match but could not overcome the talented Essex team.

The Knights held a 16-5 shot advantage and led 4-0 in corner kicks.  Kevin Dudek recorded 10 saves for the Trojans.

ACM vs Hagerstown CC

ACM   1  Hagerstown 6

The Trojans fell to 2-4-1 as they were soundly defeated by the Hagerstown CC Hawks 6-1 in Hagerstown.  ACM had trouble finding any consistency and fell behind 3-0 at the half.  The Trojans scored on a “picture-perfect” play as Lucas Knotts, on a great assist from Dagm Kabeta, found the back of the net. .  They had several scoring opportunities during the game, but failed to connect.

The Hawks led 21-8 in shots and 6-2 in corner kicks.  Goalkeepers Mike Edwards and Jeff Haselbarth combined for 14 saves.

ACM vs Howard CC

ACM   1  Howard 0

The Trojans got their second win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Howard CC.  The win gives the Trojans a 2-3-1 record.  The teams played to a scoreless first half as both had chances to get on the scoreboard.  The game’s only goal was near perfect as Donnie Ellsworth lofted a free kick to Lucas Knotts who finished with a fine header over the Howard keeper at the 33 minute mark of the half.  Both teams played strong defense as they turned away scoring opportunities.  ACM’s defense was led by Brandon Humbertson with ample support from Zach Perry, Zach Ward, Pierre Joseph, and Kevin Dudek. Mike Edwards played an excellent game, recording 12 saves.

ACM   0  CSM 6

The Trojans were shut out for the second straight game as they fell to a highly talented Southern Maryland team 6-0.  CSM scored 1:57 into the match but were held scoreless for the next 38 minutes.  Two Hawks goals late in the half put the game away.  The Trojans played even for much of the second half, but again gave up goals late. 

The Hawks held a 20-5 shot advantage and led 11-1 from the corners.  Despite the score goalkeeper Mike Edwards played well in the goal, while under a lot of pressure.

ACM vs Anne Arundel CC

The Trojans dropped to 1-2-1 with a 6-0 loss to the Anne Arundel CC Pioneers on a hot Saturday afternoon in Arnold, MD.  The Pioneers dominated the game from the start with early goals that up ACM in a hole they could not climb out.  With the halftime score 2-0, AACC pulled away with 4 goals in the second half, the last two coming in the final minutes.

The Pioneers held a 17-7 shot advantage and 5-1 from the corners.  Goalkeepers Mike Edwards and Donnie Ellsworth combined for 16 saves.

ACM vs Chesapeake

ACM   7  Chesapeake 1

The Trojans gave first year Coach Keith Eshleman his first win with a convincing 7-1 victory over the Chesapeake College Skipjacks at Wye Mills.  The win improves the Trojan record to 1-1-1 on the season.  ACM took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a header by Lucas Knotts.  Chesapeake knotted the score 1:28 into the second half on a defensive mistake which resulted in an “own goal” by the Trojans.  From that point ACM began to dominate the game, scoring 4 goals in about 8 minutes to take the win.  Donnie Ellsworth scored on a Knotts assist; Knotts got his second goal, with an assist by Marcus Kendall; Nick Logue scored unassisted off a rebound from a missed penalty kick; and Divin Domingos score on a Knotts assist.  Additional goals were scored by Domingos brother Isaac unassisted and the seventh goal came from Zach Perry on an assist from Jeff Haselbarth.

The Trojans led 22-9 in shots and 8-5 from the corner.  Keeper Mike Edwards recorded 6 saves.

ACM vs CCBC-Catonsville

The Trojans lost their first match of the season to the visiting Cardinals of CCBC-Catonsville 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.  ACM held the Cardinals scoreless for the first 30 minutes when they scored on a Penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead.  The score went to 2-0 at the 34:50 mark when CCBC score on a nice header from a corner kick.  They iced the game 6 minutes into the second half with their 3rd goal.  The Trojan defense did a great job while under a lot of pressure. 

Catonsville held an advantage in the statistics, leading in shots 15-3 and corner kicks 8-4.  Keeper Mike Edwards played well in the goal, recording 10 saves.

ACM vs Cecil College

The Trojans opened the 2008 season with a 1-1 overtime tie with the visiting Cecil College Seaheawks on a hot afternoon.  Donnie Ellsworth gave the Trojans the lead on a penalty kick 43:06 into the first half.  The Seahawks tied the game with 11 minutes left in the match.  The remaining minutes and the 20 minute overtime failed to produce a winner although the Trojans had several golden opportunities to come out with the win.  ACM’s defense, and first year goalkeeper Mike Edwards , played very well for their first match.

The statistics were even across the board with ACM leading 15-14 in shots.  Both teams had 4 corners and each keeper recorded 10 saves.
