Find out who is:
    Governor
    Lt. Governor
    Leader of the Senate
    Leader of the House

Find a member of the State Senate and how would you contact them?
Find a member of the State House of Delegates (or Representatives) and how would you contact them?

Write a hypothetical letter to ONE of the elected officals you found from above and ask them for help on an issue you feel is significant.

The governor of Maryland has more say over what aspect of state government and its' operation than any other governor in the United States?  Why?  Is there any attempt to change, modify or amend this power?  If so, what?

What is the issue of the "Calico Cat" all about?
 How would you go about finding out about this issue?
What was the outcome of this issue?
Who supported it?  who opposed it?  why?

Part III: General Info:

Given the characteristics of "those who vote" (see handout), what type of person would be the most likely to vote?  How did you reach your conclusion?  And how would they most likely be involved in the political process (see handout?)
 Make sure you look in both government and media links

What is the current controversy surrounding how people will vote in Allegany County?  What are the concerns?  Are there any possible solutions?

As a member of the city government of Big Town in "Tom Land," what are the most important positions and functions in "your city government?"  How is the city government of Big Town arraigned and what are its most important functions?
